Volunteering at the museum is a very important part of protecting the museums future. We have several volunteers who help us throughout the year, but we always need more!
We hold several volunteer days through the year, when we work in teams and achieve the bigger tasks. The volunteering days at Wind Energy Museum are great social events where strangers become good friends and there is always a great sense of achievement.
Wind Energy Museum – Team Volunteer Days 2017
Volunteer days are last Sunday of every month and every Friday year round. There’s also a working weekend 2nd weekend in July.
New volunteers should in the first instance contact us.
We are also looking for tour guides,
gardeners, catering assistants, gate attendants, activities assistants,
Full training will be given
To help the museum exhibits we are recruiting retired or working professionals in carpentry, engineering, building, electrical and plumbing.
If you have any craft that you could transfer to others we would like to hear from you.
Volunteer Summer Weekend
The biggest of our volunteering events is the second weekend in July every year and is now in its 8th year. It’s is always very well attended as a social get together and a big draw are our BBQs and the bacon rolls. There is always a huge varied jobs list, which often gets completed! Dates for this year are 7th and 8th July 2018. Book your place today – there’s no limit but we do all the catering so need an idea of numbers.
Some of the roles we need help with:
- Help on open days – kitchen, signage, meet and greet, children’s activities
- Leaflet distribution
- Promotional stalls at shows and events
- General light gardening
- Tour guides and heritage walk guides
- Ground maintenance and upkeep
- Engineering and DIY skills
