Thurne Mill is one of the most iconic mills on the Broads and certainly the most photographed, and this is your opportunity to not only visit the mill for a private tour, but also to arrive there by water in a very unique way – by kayak!

Including Mills on The Air
The Bittern DX Group, an amateur radio club, will be operating two or three different stations here at the Wind Energy Museum as part of the “Mills on the Air” weekend and, depending on prevailing conditions, hope to make contact with as
many other mill locations and other radio amateurs as we can, throughout Europe and the World. Please do come and visit, bring the family and join in the fun including using a Morse key to send their name in Morse code and to let them try to decode a “secret” message, giving them a certificate to record their achievements. Teddy Bear Picnic
The Wind Energy Museum and The Bear Cave present our Teddy Bear Picnic. A day of fun and adventure, where you can explore the grounds of the Wind Energy Museum, we will have games, stalls, bouncy castles, refreshments and crafts. The Bear Cave will be on hand with their large range of amazing furry friends, make your own bear (for an additional charge). You can buy a bear with a parachute backpack and watch them jump from our Newark Wind Pump. We will also be running a teddy bear zip line, is your bear brave enough?
All money raised will go towards maintaining Thurne Mill.

£5 per person includes a ploughman’s lunch at half time. There will be a raffle and all proceeds are going to the restoration of the windpumps.

Vintage Fete and Family Fun Day
9th September 2018
Lots for all the family. Steam cars, Steam Gramophone, Vintage & Classic Cars, crafts, stalls, live music and all the fun of the fair.
Lots to see and lots to do come to the Wind Energy Museum enjoy looking at the cars, bikes and engines then take a stroll along the river to see the Wherry Maud moored outside Thurne Mill.
The Wherry will be giving demonstrations on how to load a Wherry and Thurne Mill will be working – wind permitting.
This is an outdoor event so please come prepared.
Dance Night – 50’s 60’s 70’s in Aid of the Wind Energy Museum
Dance the night away with Kevin Barry with a 50’s 60’s 70’s mix at Hemsby Village Hall 7pm-7.30pm

Monica’s Mindfulness Walks
Join Mindfulness Walking Guide Monica Porter and discover a new way to take a break from the busy world. You’ll also be walking in the beautiful landscape around Thurne Mill and the Wind Energy Museum. Every 3rd Sunday from January 2018 onwards.
Includes strawberry cream tea, circular walk and guided tour of Thurne Mill and Wind Energy Museum. Most Sundays from January 2018 onwards.
